Angels Watching
In the beginning, He was with God. He was God, and together, they created us, and us for the heavens. Everything created flowed through Him, and without Him, there was nothing.
Life began with Him, so when God said, “let there be light,” the light came, and existed exactly as He led. As the days went on, He would give direction to the waters, the land, creatures of all kinds, and to man. And they would come alive at the words he said.
And we watched, in wonder and awe. For what He created was good, and he had brought life to it all.
But man seemed to forget, and some of us did too, that He who gave life gets to say what those living can and can’t do.
All-consuming, overwhelming, darkness filled the earth. One of our own ruled over it, challenging the light’s worth.
We watched as they built nations; kingdoms one after the other. We watched them steal each other’s wives and murder their brothers. They lifted up kings, only to hate them and groan. And those kings ruled blindly and abused their thrones. The dark wasn’t just around them, it poured from within. We watched the prince of darkness wield his power over them. And the world grew darker and darker than it had ever been.
We watched, and waited. Is this it? Is this how it ends? The once beautiful creation, self-destroyed by their sin.
But then, we heard whispers, the prophets began to dream, and we would hang on every vision they saw and every word they would speak. They spoke of a child who would come, a king who’d change everything. But how could this be? What man could be different than all we have seen? What king could rule without corruption or greed? What god could exist among man to be touched, to be seen? Would the creator of light enter darkness so his creation could be freed? And we heard as the people suffering screamed…
Deliver Us…Deliver Us…Deliver Us The Arrival
The darkness hung heavy over the night, the earth was quiet and the heavens held their breath, waiting to see what He would do. The prophets' whispers had become declarations, the creator was on the move.
We watched the earth shift; His creation awakened. Too long they lived in the darkness, where they hoped and waited. They now hear of his coming, and things begin to change. Even the stars realign in honor of his name.
He is coming…he is coming… he is coming!
We race down to earth; people have to know! Their king has come with a manger as His throne! Don’t be afraid, for this is good news! The government will rest on his shoulders, and the prince of darkness will lose. The hosts of heaven, we shout of his coming, for we’ve seen his work from the very beginning. Our song rings out, breaking the silence of the night. Glory, Glory, to God in the highest! He has come! And the darkness can never overcome the light!
