Give Us This Day

Today, we are in need. Where we once sat is now a pile of stones; the ruins of our pride we misused as a throne. Today, we sit at a table set by Him; The King who provides for His people, The Father who feeds His children. Today, the reality is our desperation, the defeat of our self-sufficiency, As we trade illusion for firm foundation.

Today was created, and we were instated to live in dependance, To ask and receive. But to first bow our heads and recognize our need.

We cannot beg the sun to rise and give us another day, For the sun obeys only one, as do the oceans, winds, and rains. All of these were created to begin and end with Him. From the mightiest sea to the tiniest creature, We are all just like them

Nothing grows at our command, And work isn’t honored through mere will For only He who is King can honor, And only by its creator, can creation be filled

Today, He is reigning, over man and all man’s needs. And we are to ask for what He can give, For from Him are all things.
